The James M. Cox, Jr. Arboretum Foundation

In 1962 James M. Cox, Jr. donated 160 acres of land to establish an Arboretum in our community. Since then, dedicated volunteers, community leaders and Five Rivers MetroParks have protected the land and nurtured the Arboretum, year after year, for the people of the Miami Valley and southwest Ohio to enjoy. The park is free and open to the public from dawn to dusk year-round.

The James M. Cox, Jr. Arboretum Foundation has served as the governing body and donated over $40 million to its operation over the past 40 years. The Arboretum relies on the generosity of individuals, foundations and corporations to carry out its mission and ensure a quality experience for visitors and participants in our educational programs. Funds generated through memberships, gifts, grants and special events are combined with operational funding received from Five Rivers MetroParks and over 30,000 hours annually from dedicated volunteers to sustain this incredible regional facility for outdoor education and recreation.
